From the SignalVero journal

What is this and why am I building it?

If you were following my older site seohero.tools, this was the “about page” of that site. Which I am copying verbatim, but striking out parts that do not apply anymore on this new project SignalVero.

One of my challenges running SEO teams

I’ve been in SEO jobs since 2006, but I have been doing SEO since 2004 but more on the technical side when I was a web desginer / web developer. I have been a designer/developer since 1997.
There are many cases when work gets tedious, some manual copy and pasting, Excel or Google Sheets sorting and filtering is done to help finish deliverables. Sometimes, I also create custom scripts to get the job done faster.
Often times these custom scripts help get the job done but less technical savvy colleagues cannot use the scripts unless I would:

  • Train them well, which may mean making them into programmers themselves.
This works but not everyone is interested, not everyone thinks they have the capacity or time to learn, and has a learning curve that some people cannot afford to do since there are other pending SEO work that needs to get done.
  • Always do technical task for them, or create a separate technical team to handle all technical task for the department.
This works, but also requires hiring of new team members. Some good developers are not good at SEO, and some good at SEO are not good developers. Those good in both, are more expensive to hire or are already happy with their current agencies. And those that are good in SEO or development, also need time to ramp up the other skill.
  • Or make the scripts user-friendly enough so that anyone can use them.
This works as well, but also time consuming in terms of the building of the tool itself. The more user friendly it is, the longer it takes to create. To create this faster, involves a cost in hiring other application developers.

This tool is considering the 3rd option. It does consume a lot of time. I am not hiring new developers, I am just doing this on the side. The learning process is also therapeutic to me. I get to try new things, and I am always interested in new things. This site is not indexed and is blocked by robots.txt. But if you are seeing this page, most likely I know why. Either I told you about it, or someone told you about it told you what I told them about it. Or you once joined the SEO contest by WIX several years back where the contest keyword was SEO Hero Tools, and you paid attention to all the domains that were ranking at the time. Since I still own the domain, I decided to put it to good use.

This is not intended to recreate the wheel… until I think I need to… and has the capacity and time to recreate the wheel

I do not envision this to recreate all of the great tools that already exists out there. Instead I am creating “helper tools” to work with the data coming from existing tools, well at least for now. These will be tools where you will export your data from other tools like Screaming Frog, Lumar, Botify, SEMRush, AHrefs, and others. And upload them here where added analysis will be done. Or even implementation of changes directly on your website via CMS extensions. As a future upgrade, the ability to add in your own API keys will be the next step. Then later on, if it makes economical sense, I will pay for the API keys. Then only if this becomes really successful, then sure, recreate other tools. But for now, I totally do not see that in the near future. I am not even planning to make a large profit from this. I am just creating these to make my work easier. An extension of the work I already do on other tools end up in spreadsheets to analyze data, in documents and presentations to show reports, and within CMS’ to implement changes. I am just finding ways to avoid manual copy and paste work and quicker ways to find insights, and implement changes.

Not all the latest technologies, and keeping cost to a minimum

I started as a web designer/web developer back in 1997. And with the limitations of HTML, I started with Perl, and later on moved to HTMLScript that became Miva Script, before I learned PHP in 1999. Popular CMS were not that many back then, where I used to make my own CMS’. I made my own shopping carts. By then I transitioned my career into SEO and less design and development. So the design and development world already left me behind. I am no longer aware of all the frontend frameworks and libraries. If ever there is a language I know the most it is PHP and even with PHP, I am not aware of all the MVC frameworks. I did web design and development when subversioning was not a requirement. However over the years I learned Python but primarily for the Data Science side of things. Using the PANDAS library, which I also intend to use in some of my future tools where this web app will link to it. Despite being outdated, the AI tools out there are providing a lot of help in catching up. However, I can see that just using AI without any development knowledge might be possible to make more tools, but you will be using AI a lot more to learn what to do and it will take a longer time. While if you have some web development knowledge and you use AI tools, from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Deepseek, Copilot, etc., it makes it easy to built new tools since you already know how to make it from a programmers type of thinking. You just need the AI tools to come up with specific code
for various parts of your application, and you are not asking the AI tools to write a whole new complete app. The AI tools have help encourage me again to create web applications. Because it saves a lot of time from researching online, reading documentation from the PHP manual, looking at examples, reading conversation threads on StackOverflow, asking online groups, etc. The AI tools replace all of that, and I can even debate with the AI tools on what would be the best ways to approach things, and it would reply back pros and cons
of the different approaches.

A new feature [update] every weekend

If you have read all of this boring text up to this point, cool. Thanks. I intend to add at least 1 more feature in my to-do list below at least once a week, every weekend. I have a family, I got houses to pay, I have many other bills, I need to help my family, so I need to make a living and spend time working at a job. So I cannot work this tool full-time. I tried partnering up with different developers in the past without paying the developer, and more of a JV situation, but that makes the dev less motivate if he is not that excited with these tools. And I also cannot devote the same amount of time dedicated to the project if they are super excited and wants to get it going at the soonest possible time. Because I need time to work and make a living. And if I look for a developer or dev company to do this, it is usually tied to a high price tag. I have no investors. This is just a side project to help speed up my work with my own clients, as well as speed up my work with whoever is my current employer in my SEO job. I may decide to share this with my colleagues to help them too.

A new feature was what I originally wrote when I started this. But I realized that was a bit too aggressive, work today is actually way faster with all the AI vibe coding tools these days. QA, security checks, are just done way quicker now. Updates now can happen daily. And the updates might not even be that visible to the user. But it just make everything function better, or make it more secure, or fixed a functional mistake..

Be a trial user

Not sure how you know this URL, or maybe I told you about it. Depending when you registered on the site, the very early stages will be very boring since I am still building things out, a few things at a time. All by myself, and learning the best ways to do a few things along the way to improve on my current development skills. To be part of this journey, you can register here. If you have suggestions and you know me, just email me, text me, whatever way you know how to contact me. But in the future, maybe I will make a Slack channel for improvement suggestions.

Initially when I first made SEOHero.tools, registered users that didn’t have to pay anything were like approved or disapproved manually, but now I am working on adding some free Tier in my packages.

Obviously this is no longer SEOHero.tools

This project started with SEOHero.tools, but over time, we are now in the AI age. And there is not only SEO, there is now AEO, GEO, or whatever acronyms you want to use, as I’ve also been hearing AI SEO, AIO, etc. And now more than ever, digital marketing is just getting so mixed where all channels need to help each other, paid media, paid search, paid social, organic social, press releases, web design and development, UX, CRO, analytics, so SignalVero makes this more digital marketing channel agnostic, as I build more tools from other ideas that may bleed outside of SEO.
